The end grain of this butcher block is designed to help create a pattern within a pattern. End grain is gentler on knife edges, and "heals" better than edge or face grain, minimizing the appearance of knife marks/use over time. The vast majority is red oak, with 2 bookmatched ash pieces at each corner.
Small, solid brass handles allow for ease of carrying, slight contrast, but don't waste much surface area.
Gentle washing with warm water, and occasional care with food safe finish will keep this looking beautiful and lasting for many years.
